The Toronto Raptors’ Dwane Casey and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Dave Joerger today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in October and November.

Casey led the Raptors to the Eastern Conference’s best record (13-4, .765) for games played in October/November.  Toronto compiled a five-game winning streak from Nov. 4-11, during which it won games by an average margin of 14 points. Following a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 13, the Raptors reeled off six consecutive wins from Nov. 15-26, by an average margin of 16 points. Toronto’s +9.6 points per game differential ranked second in the league to the Golden State Warriors’ +10.6.

Joerger guided the Grizzlies to a league best 15-2 (.882) mark for games played in October/November.  Memphis held opponents to a league-best 92.4 points and surrendered 100-plus points just four times.  The Grizzlies’ two losses came by one point and four points.  The Grizzlies are the only team in the NBA that owns a perfect record against conference opponents (11-0).  They are also the only team in the NBA with an undefeated mark at home (8-0).  A former NBA Development League head coach, Joerger guided the Dakota Wizards to the D-League championship in 2007.

Other nominees for Coach of the Month were Atlanta’s Mike Budenholzer, Chicago’s Tom Thibodeau, Dallas’ Rick Carlisle, Golden State’s Steve Kerr, Houston’s Kevin McHale, Los Angeles Clippers’ Doc Rivers, Milwaukee’s Jason Kidd, Portland’s Terry Stotts, San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich and Washington’s Randy Wittman.
