Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks Team News

Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff thinks his rookie big man Evan Mobley gives them the same value as Scottie Barnes to the Raptors. In an article by Steven Loung of Sportsnet.ca, Bickerstaff praised the two young players for their impact on the defensive end using their physical tools and instincts.

“Both of those guys are uniquely framed they’re mobile and agile and it gives them an opportunity to be impactful defensively,” the Cavs coach noted.

Barnes and Mobley emerged among the top contenders for Rookie of the Year after putting up strong numbers early this season. Former averages 17.6 points and 8,9 rebounds in 35.4 minutes per contest, while the latter tallies 13.8 points and 7.9 in 34.2 minutes per game.

Kemba Walker gathered only nine points and converted 4 of 19 shots between the Knicks’ last two matches. The former All-Star admitted that he has to step up his game by playing aggressively at the start of the game.

“I have to get my guys going. I take ownership of that. That’s who I can be. I have to do a better job at that. I have to be ready to start the game better,” Walker said of his shooting struggle.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks Preview

This season, the Cavaliers equaled their longest winning streak at three games after putting on a late rally to edge the Toronto Raptors, 101-102, on Friday. Cleveland banked on a total team effort with four players scoring at least 16 points. Jarret Allen racked up 16 points and 15 rebounds, Darius Garland tallied 21 points and eight assists, and Evan Mobley added 18 markets with five rebounds. Cedi Osman contributed 17 points off the bench, while Ricky Rubio had 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Meanwhile, in New York, the Knicks have turned more doubters into believers, especially after Friday’s come-from-behind win over the Milwaukee Bucks, 113-98. Down 21 points, the Knicks slowly ate the commanding lead through sheer efforts from Derrick Rose, RJ Barret, and Julius Randle. The trio combined for 75 of the Knicks’ total points. The team shot just 25 percent from the three-point range but they did convert 21 of 26 free-throw attempts, including the most important ones late in the game.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks Prediction

Seeking a fourth straight victory, The Cavaliers will have another strong performance from Jarret Allen, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland to give themselves a better chance at upending the Knicks on their home turf. That’s easier said than done, of course.

However, Cleveland will have another source of offense if the Knicks have the game plan to stop those mentioned Cavaliers. Collin Sexton, who scored just nine points in the win against the Raptors, historically performed well against the Knicks throughout his career. In his last two games against Big Apple’s darling squad, he tallied 17 and 20 points with a bunch of rebounds and assists.

As for the Knicks, the team will be leaning on their lefty duo Randle and Barret – the top two scorers on the team. Rose, who matched his season-high 23 points against the Bucks, will always be there to provide much-needed scoring punch from the bench.

This game should be an entertaining contest between two teams with contrasting styles. The Knicks are the league’s number 4 best scoring team at 113 points per outing. The Cavaliers are top-10 in terms of points allowed per game at 104.5 points.

Buoyed by another terrific outing from Allen and Garland, the Cavaliers will cruise to a tough win against the Knicks. Cleveland will also contain the Knicks below their scoring average, though the total still breaches 209 points.
