Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt says guard Iman Shumpert is improving after sustaining a groin strain and is hopeful he can go in Game 3 against the Bulls on Friday.

“He’s a little bit better than we originally expected and that’s a positive, but we’re monitoring and we’re hoping that he’ll continue to progress,” Blatt said Thursday at the team’s practice facility.

Shumpert’s injury occurred in the third quarter of the Cavaliers’ 106-91 win in Game 2 on Wednesday. He was seen telling LeBron James that he heard something pop.
