Chris Mullin is not the only one returning to St. John’s.

Former Johnnies team manager Matt Abdelmassih is leaving his spot as an assistant coach at Iowa State to take a position next to Mullin. He announced the move in a Twitter post on Tuesday. Abdelmassih graduated from St. John’s in 2007.

“I am going back to work at my alma mater St. John’s, a place that holds a special place in my heart,” Abdelmassih said in the post. “Extremely sad but happy to move onto the next stage of my life.” The 30-year-old Brooklyn product met Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg when they worked together in the front office of the Minnesota Timberwolves and followed Hoiberg when he took over the Cyclones.
