Connecticut’s Amida Brimah couldn’t be stopped on Sunday against Coppin State, finishing with a game-high 40 points as the Huskies rolled to a 106-85 victory over the visiting Eagles at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

The 7-foot-2 center went 13-for-13 from the field, nine of which came on dunks, and hit 12 of 16 free throws. Plus, Brimah added 12 rebounds to complete his double-double.

Guard Ryan Boatright helped UConn (4-3) outside by making four 3-pointers and finishing with 22 points as the Huskies snapped a three-game losing streak.

Coppin State (1-9) couldn’t match up with the Huskies inside as Connecticut held a 45-24 edge in rebounding and got a number of high-percentage shots in close.

The Eagles manufactured lots of offense, led by forward Arnold Fripp (25 points) and guard Christian Kessee (22 points). But Coppin State could not stop the Huskies on defense, which let them score over 50 points in both halves.

Connecticut jumped out early, taking a quick 13-2 lead and removing all of the suspense while Brimah kept making dunks. The Eagles now have lost five straight.

Coppin State plays next at Michigan on Dec. 22. Connecticut will host Duke on Thursday night.
