Detroit has split its first four Summer League contests while the Magic also own a 2-2 record through their first four exhibition games. This game was supposed to feature two of the top-four picks in the NBA Draft. However, the Magic will be without lottery pick Jalen Suggs while top overall pick Cade Cunningham sat in Detroit’s win versus the L.A. Lakers.
Can the Pistons keep their momentum going against the Magic on Monday evening?
Pistons Cruise To Win vs. Lakers Without Cunningham
Detroit is fresh off of beating the Los Angeles Lakers 103-86 without two of its top players. No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes both sat, allowing some of the Pistons’ other prospects to get some valuable reps. All five of Detroit’s starters finished in double-figures on the night. Saben Lee had a game-high 22 points while second-round pick Luka Garza continued his strong showing during the Summer League with 20 points.

Second-year forward Saddiq Bey appears to have outgrown the Summer League. More of a 3-and-D threat as a rookie, Bey has flashed improvements off the dribble during the exhibition season, showing an ability to get to his spots in the mid-range. He had a team-high six assists against the Lakers and also swiped four steals in the win. The All-Rookie performer should continue to grow on offense in his second NBA season.

Cunningham comes in averaging 18.7 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and a blistering 50 percent from beyond the arc. The rookie first-rounder has also contributed defensively too, averaging 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks in three games. Following a clutch 24-point performance versus the New York Knicks, Cunningham earned a night off against the Lakers.
As a team, Detroit has averaged 89.8 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from 3-point range.
Magic Showing Grit, Toughness in Las Vegas
Orlando took down the Houston Rockets 89-76 on Sunday to get back to the .500-mark through four Summer League contests. Yante Maten had 18 points and nine rebounds while Cole Anthony chipped in 15 points for the Magic in the win.

The Magic got some bad news earlier in the week when it was announced that No. 4 overall pick Jalen Suggs would miss the remainder of the Summer League with a left thumb sprain. Suggs suffered the injury in the first half of Thursday’s game versus the Boston Celtics and will be held out as a precautionary measure. The former Gonzaga star averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in three games before getting hurt. Perhaps even more impressively, Suggs has flashed terrific instincts on the defensive end of the floor. The rookie guard has been a disruptor defensively, using his athleticism and anticipation to attack opposing guards.

Ignas Brazdeikis is second on the team in scoring at 8.3 points per game. Meanwhile, fellow rookie Franz Wagner is averaging 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest. He finished with 13 points in Sunday’s win over the Rockets. As a team, Orlando has averaged just 83.8 points per game on 37.9 percent shooting from the field and 31.8 percent shooting from 3-point range.

NBA Summer League Betting Predictions
Below, you can find more NBA betting predictions and analysis for the NBA Summer League.
NBA Summer League Spread Prediction:
Orlando has struggled at times on offense in Las Vegas and that problem will be compounded with Suggs out of the lineup. The Magic have some older players on the roster but they lack enough depth and offensive talent to keep this game competitive. Meanwhile, the Pistons have started to find their rhythm over the last two games, beating the Knicks and Lakers in the process. With Lee, Bey, and Garza all playing well for Detroit, the Pistons should have the edge in this game. Even if Cunningham doesn’t suit up for this one, look for the Pistons to cover the spread in Las Vegas on Monday evening.
NBA Summer League Money Line Prediction:
Orlando has struggled to shoot the ball with consistency in Las Vegas. The Magic are knocking down under 40 percent of their field-goal attempts and 32 percent of their 3-point shots in Las Vegas. The Magic will also be playing this game on the second night of a back-to-back after taking on the Houston Rockets on Sunday evening. That should give the Pistons a sizable advantage here. With fresher legs and a more talented offensive team, take Detroit to win on the money line in this NBA Summer League contest in Las Vegas on Monday night.
NBA Summer League Total Prediction:
The Magic might be offensively challenged, especially without Suggs on the floor, but they make up for it with grit and effort on the defensive end. Fellow rookie Franz Wagner was expected to be one of the best perimeter defenders in this rookie class and he will have his hands full if Cunningham sees the court in this game. Orlando is fresh off of holding the Houston Rockets to just 76 points while the Pistons have surrendered 90 points or fewer in three of their four Summer League games. Meanwhile, the Magic have scored 90 points or more just one time in Las Vegas. Take these two teams to stay under the projected total in this NBA Summer League contest on Monday night.
