Hapoel Eilat Signs Willie Reed
Hapoel Eilat of the top Israeli division signed 24-year-old forward/center Willie Reed to a guaranteed contract for the remainder of the season, sources told Basketball Insiders.
Reed, who was recently waived by the Brooklyn Nets, averaged four points and four rebounds in two preseason games. He lands in the Holy Land today.
Reed spent time last season with the Nets’ D-League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, registering 14.8 points and 10.1 rebounds along with 1.6 blocks per game.
A product of Saint Louis University, Reed had spurts with the Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzlies but never officially played in the NBA.
During the offseason, Reed put up 9.2 points, 5.6 boards and 2.8 blocks through five Summer League showings for the Indiana Pacers.
