Humphries Set On Playing Wizards’ Opener

Kris Humphries underwent surgery on Oct. 9 to repair nerve damage in his right hand three days after slicing it on the rim between his pinkie and ring fingers attempting to block a shot in the Wizards’ preseason opener against the Chicago Bulls. He was given a recovery timetable of three to four weeks and has not been able to use his right hand yet. But Humphries hopes to be cleared to practice over the next week and available when the season begins.

“That’s the goal,” he said Tuesday. “It’s just a matter of being able to catch the ball.”
