Jan Vesely was eating lunch when his agent called. The Nuggets and Washington Wizards were negotiating a trade that would bring him to the Mile High City.

“I was like, ‘All right, that’s nice,’ ” said Vesely a 7-foot, 242-pound power forward. “I was real excited. But I didn’t expect it at first.”

In fact, a couple of days earlier, he had been told he wasn’t going to be part of any trade scenarios.

“I’m really happy,” Vesely said. “I’m really excited about it.”
