Kerr: Speights Earned Backup Role; Will Play Lots

Warriors big man Marreese Speights is no longer out of shape and on the end of the bench like he was last season.

He’s far from that state after scoring 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a 136-115 win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

“He’s earned that backup role, and he’s going to play a lot for us,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.
