The Miami HEAT had been linked to former Connecticut point guard Shabazz Napier in recent days, and they got their man on Thursday night. The HEAT acquired Napier from the Charlotte Hornets, and LeBron James quickly expressed his approval.

Napier was honored by the shout out and can’t wait to join a championship-caliber organization like Miami after winning two titles in college.

“I would love it [if James returned to Miami],” Napier said. “Me and LeBron’s relationship, he’s a great guy.  I’ve been to his camps.  Me and him chatted a few times at his camps.  He’s just a special thing. My agent just told me that he tweeted something out about me just now.  It’s just something special to know that one of the best players in the world thinks about you and appreciates your talent.  That’s something that I’m so humble for.”

Napier said he’ll definitely do what he can to help recruit James back to Miami.

“He’s one of the best players in the world, so if me going there helps him come back, it just betters our chances of being a complete team,” Napier said. “But at the end of the day, my job is to get to improve and work on my game so when it comes to the stage where it’s my first game, I’m ready to compete, and I’m prepared.”
