Freshman forward Jay Knuth scored 15 points — including 13 of 14 from the free throw line — to lead Loyola-Chicago to a 62-44 Las Vegas Classic victory over Texas Tech on Monday at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

The Ramblers (9-2) advanced to Tuesday’s championship game against either Boise State or Houston with their fifth straight win, the program’s longest winning streak since 2010.

Forward Justin Gray scored 17 points while guard Robert Turner added 11 for the Red Raiders (9-2), who saw a nine-game winning streak snapped. Texas Tech’s last loss was a 69-64 overtime setback at LSU on Nov. 18.

Loyola trailed early but took a 12-11 lead after two free throws by guard Earl Peterson midway through the first half on the way to a 28-19 halftime lead.

The Ramblers steadily pulled away in the second half, opening a 14-point at 49-35 lead on guard Milton Doyle’s free throw with 8:35 to play.
