Junior guard Marcus Marshall of Missouri State, the Missouri Valley Conference’s second-leading scorer, has decided to transfer, the school announced in a press release.

Marshall, who averaged 19.5 points per game this season for the Bears, was suspended on Wednesday for what coach Paul Lusk termed conduct detrimental to the team.

“Marcus is a good kid who is trying to find his way, and we wish him the best,” Lusk said. “This is a mutual decision that will be the best thing moving forward for our program and for him.”

Lusk said Marshall, from St. Paul, Minn., asked for his release and will seek a transfer at the end of the current academic semester in May.
