Despite being viewed as the +3.5 point underdog on, the Pels pose a real danger to any team with momentum building in each win. Bookmakers also feel both teams possess enough offensive juice to break the 100-point mark, pegging the total at 216.5 points.

Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans Team News

Luka Doncic will play a key role in luring Goran Dragic to join the Dallas Mavericks, according to Paolo Songco of Clutchpoints. The general belief around the association is Dragic played his last game with the Raptors after he took an indefinite leave to attend personal matters in Slovenia. Dragic, who teamed up with Doncic to help Slovenia capture the last EuroBasket title, might be on his way to Dallas where he will get an important role next to “the Don.”

“Dragic to the Mavericks sounds like a good deal. As the above report states, Dragic has proven to be a valuable asset for the second unit. The veteran can play both guard positions which will give Mavericks coach Jason Kidd more flexibility in terms of using Dragic off the bench,” Songco opines.

Andrew Lopez of ESPN explores the impact Zion Williamson playing at point guard position would provide for the Pelicans once he returns from injury.

“As Williamson gets closer to making his season debut, he’ll join a team that is off to one of the worst starts in franchise history. His return will bring some much-needed stability to the young core, but the Pelicans are looking to follow the 2020-21 Washington Wizards and become just the fourth team since the ABA/NBA merger to make the playoffs after starting 6-17,” Lopez writes.

Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans Injury Report

Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans Preview

The Mavericks fell to their fifth loss in five games, bowing out to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 114-96, on Monday. Doncic had another masterstroke of a ball game, recording 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double. However, Dallas only had three players scoring in double figures outside of Doncic. They also put up a weak defensive effort against the Cavs, who shot a staggering 56 percent from the field.

The Pelicans came through with another upset win on Monday, stunning the Los Angeles Clippers, 123-104. Jonas Valanciunas busted out his ever-improving ability to knock down trey, converting 7 of his 8 attempts from the three-point line. The Lithuanian big finished with 39 points and Brandon Ingram added 27 to power New Orleans to their second win of the season against the Clips.

Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans Prediction

Kudos to the Pelicans for winning three of their last four, but they will come crashing back to earth against the Mavs. Dallas defeated the Pels convincingly, 108-92, in their first contest this season. In that game, Doncic recorded 25 points while Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr posted 17 points each. Dallas are also 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against New Orleans. Moreover, the solid bet appears to be on OVER with the total going OVER in 9 of Dallas’ last 13 games when playing on the road against New Orleans.

Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans Betting Pick

Pick: Mavericks cover 3.5 point spread, OVER 216.5 points
