NBA PM: Will DeAndre Jordan Return to Clippers?
Will DeAndre Jordan spurn the Dallas Mavericks and return to the Los Angeles Clippers? It’s a possibility.
Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy has the latest information on DeAndre Jordan’s indecision and he joins CineSport’s Noah Coslov to discuss if the big man will spurn the Dallas Mavericks for the Los Angeles Clippers.
For those who may have missed what’s going on, here’s a recap: Jordan reportedly called Blake Griffin (and possibly other Clippers players) and expressed that he was having second thoughts about his free agency decision to join the Mavericks. Now, the Clippers are trying to pounce and get Jordan to return.
Because of the NBA’s moratorium period, Jordan’s commitment to Dallas was only verbal and he couldn’t actually sign and finalize a contract with them until July 9 (midnight tonight).
Griffin, Steve Ballmer, Doc Rivers, Chris Paul, J.J. Redick and Paul Pierce will be representing the Clippers in their meeting with Jordan tonight, which will take place in Houston. The group is hoping he’ll back out of his verbal agreement with the Mavericks and re-sign with the Clippers.
It remains to be seen if Dallas will put together an additional meeting with Jordan. Chandler Parsons, who played a big role in recruiting Jordan, tweeted a plane emoji suggesting that the Mavs will try to get to Houston to fight for Jordan as well.
Basketball Insiders will keep you updated as this situation unfolds.
Tonight, Clippers shooting guard Jamal Crawford will be joining Alex Kennedy as a co-host on the Basketball Insiders podcast, where he’ll discuss the Jordan news, his name showing up in trade rumors, all of the big NBA offseason moves and much more. Don’t miss that tonight.
