Northern Illinois 83, Hampton 51
Forward Darrell Bowie collected a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds as Northern Illinois snapped a two-game losing streak with a 83-51 nonconference victory over Hampton on Monday at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois.
The Huskies (5-5) also had 12 points from guard Aaron Armstead and 11 from guard Anthony Johnson as they ran their home winning streak to 10 in the first meeting between the teams.
Guards Dwight Meikle and Reginald Johnson had 18 and 10 points, respectively, for the Tigers (6-7) who saw a two-game winning streak snapped in their first game since Dec. 21.
Northern Illinois never trailed and built a 46-35 lead by halftime. Twice the Huskies extended the margin to 25 points late in the second half and closed with 10 unanswered points.
The Huskies close nonconference play on Friday against UC-Riverside. The Tigers travel to South Carolina Upstate on Saturday.
