(Nuggets GM Tim) Connelly has spent the better part of the summer scouting talent, stateside and abroad, but is realistic about what the Nuggets can get out of this draft. And it won’t be the “impactful” piece he’s looking for.

“I think we’re honest with ourselves, the 11th pick on a team that should be in the playoffs generally doesn’t have a huge impact from Day 1,” he said. “Very few rookies had any impact this year on playoff teams. As our roster is presently constituted, who knows how we’re going to look after the draft. I think it’s unfair to put too much emphasis on the 11th pick.”

Connelly hasn’t put too much weight on the workouts he’s seen of the projected top picks; his primary focus is interviewing the players and getting to know them on a personal level because “We always say we don’t want to sign or draft jerks.”
