Former Virginia Tech forward Trevor Thompson transferred to Ohio State, ESPN.com reported Sunday.

The Buckeyes also added former Temple forward Anthony Lee, who will be eligible next season. He averaged 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season for the Owls.

Thompson averaged 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game his freshman season, but had 15 points and six rebounds at Duke in February.

The 7-footer also received interest from Indiana, Purdue and Butler, but decided on Ohio State.

“I love the academics, the fans, my new teammates and the coaching staff,” Thompson said. “It was the perfect fit.”

Thompson, an Indianapolis native, will likely sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules, but could request a waiver because of his father’s medical condition. Ryan Thompson is a former Major League Baseball player.
