New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Hiliday will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right tibia on Friday.

The team did not indicate how long Holiday’s recovery will take, but he is expected to be back with the Pelicans for the 2014-15 season.

Holiday was in his first season with the Pelicans after the Philadelphia 76ers traded him last June during the NBA Draft for first-round pick Nerlens Noel. The former All-Star averaged 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 34 games this season in New Orleans.

Holiday has missed 23 games since he last played on Jan. 8. Brian Roberts has taken Holiday’s place at point guard for the rest of the season.
