The Los Angeles Lakers are scheduled to interview Lionel Hollins for their head coaching vacancy this week, according to Yahoo Sports.

The team has already interviewed Mike Dunleavy and Byron Scott, who have past ties with the team.

Hollins last coached the Memphis Grizzlies. The team decided not to renew his contract after the 2012-13 season, despite finishing 56-26 in the regular season and advancing to the Western Conference finals. It was reported the two sides had different philosophies about the direction of the team.

The Lakers went just 27-55 this season and coach Mike D’Antoni resigned when the team would not extend his contract beyond nest season.

Hollins is the first candidate to emerge who does not have a Lakers connection. Dunleavy coached the Lakers several years ago and Scott, also a coaching veteran, played for the Showtime Lakers of the 1980s.
