Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors News

Just five games into his NBA career, Thunder rookie point guard Josh Giddey has already etched his name in the NBA record books. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Giddey became the second-youngest player in NBA history to have a game with at least 10 points, a game with at least 10 assists, and a game with at least 10 rebounds. The only player to accomplish the feat younger than Giddey? LeBron James.

The last time Warriors fans saw shooting guard Klay Thompson was in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. Since then, Thompson has endured ACL and Achilles injuries and has yet to play in a game at Chase Center. A few weeks ago, Shams Charania reported that Thompson could be cleared for full practice at some point over the next month. While the Warriors are expecting Thompson to return by Christmas Day, the plan is to have Thompson debut at home in the Chase Center.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors Injury Report

The Oklahoma City Thunder come into the weekend with a healthy roster and zero players on the injury report.

On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors are still awaiting the return of both Klay Thompson and former No. 2-overall pick James Wiseman. Both players are expected to return to the team in the next month.

Meanwhile, 2021 first-round pick Jonathan Kuminga has been upgraded to probable for Saturday’s game against the Thunder. Shooting guard Damien Lee is questionable with a right shoulder bruise, according to Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors Preview

Giddey helps Thunder erase 26-point deficit vs. Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder rallied from a 26-point deficit to take down the Los Angeles Lakers 123-115 for their first win of the season on Wednesday night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 27 points and nine rebounds while rookie Josh Giddey added 18 points and 10 assists for his first career double-double in the win. After a slow start from the field, Oklahoma City finished shooting 50 percent from the floor and 15-for-37 from 3-point range (40.5 percent).

According to dunksandthrees.com, the Thunder enter this matchup ranked dead-last in the NBA with an adjusted -10.1 net rating. Oklahoma City ranks near the bottom of the league on both ends of the floor. It owns an adjusted offensive rating of 101.2, 28th in the NBA, and an adjusted 111.3 defensive rating, good for 25th in the league.

Can the Warriors rebound from their first loss of the season?

Golden State was stunned in a 104-101 overtime loss versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night. Stephen Curry finished with 36 points and eight assists while Andrew Wiggins added 16 for the Warriors, who led by 17 points after the first quarter.

Golden State got sloppy in its loss to the Grizzlies, turning the ball over a season-high 22 times on the night. Curry also struggled to find his mark from 3-point range, knocking down just seven of his 20 3-point attempts in the loss.

Despite the loss, the Warriors still come into this matchup ranked in the top-10 in the NBA in adjusted net rating (+2.8) heading into Saturday’s contest. While the Warriors rank 17th with an adjusted 106.0 offensive rating, they’ve been the league’s sixth-best defensive team, sporting a healthy 103.2 adjusted defensive rating through five contests.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors Prediction

The Warriors are coming off of a disappointing loss, so I’d expect them to take care of business in his spot. The Thunder expended a lot of energy in a comeback win over the Lakers in their previous contest and will be traveling from OKC to San Francisco for this game. After a rough shooting performance against the Grizzlies, look for Curry to bounce back against a much softer Thunder defense. Take the Warriors to cover the spread at home in this Western Conference showdown on Saturday night.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors Props Bet

Bettors are still getting a bargain on certain player props early on in the regular season and this is one of them. Jordan Poole has flashed signs of a breakout in 2021-2022 but he’s gone ice-cold from 3-point range over the last two games, missing each of his nine 3-point attempts during that span. He’s a much better shooting than his 22.6 regular-season mark, so he’s due for some positive regression in the near future. Poole is also attempting nearly six 3-pointers per game and is only projected for 1.5 made 3-pointers against the Thunder. Take Jordan Poole to record at least two 3-pointers against OKC on Saturday evening.
