Thunder’s Westbrook avoids further injury
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook sustained no additional damage to his surgically repaired knee after a collision during Friday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors.
Westbrook had an MRI on his right knee Saturday after he banged knees with Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry and left the Thunder’s 119-118 double-overtime win over the Raptors in the third quarter. He was helped to the locker room and did not return to the game.
“I’m pain free,” Westbrook said after the game, according to The Daily Oklahoman.
The Thunder will continue with their schedule of resting Westbrook for the second game of back-to-backs. He is expected to sit out one of the Thunder’s next two games, on Monday against the Denver Nuggets and on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
Westbrook has played in 37 games this season.
