Utah State 76, San Jose State 54
Sophomore guard Jalen Moore scored 20 points, leading visiting Utah State to a 76-54 victory over San Jose State on Wednesday night at the Event Center in San Jose, Calif.
Junior guard Chris Smith had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists for Utah State (15-10, 8-5 Mountain West).
Senior forward Jaleel Williams scored 20 points to lead San Jose State (2-23, 0-13). Sophomore guard Rashad Muhammad had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Utah State mounted a 10-0 run to take an 18-13 lead on a 3-pointer by junior guard Darius Perkins with 7:58 remaining in the first period. The Spartans cut the deficit to three with 5:47 to go, but the Aggies staged an 11-1 run over the next 2:04 and led 40-27 at the break.
Utah State shot a sizzling 72.2 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from 3-point range in the opening half. San Jose State shot 34.5 percent and made just 3 of 11 from beyond the arc.
The Aggies extended their lead 22 on a dunk by Moore with 14:15 to play. The Spartans cut Utah State’s lead to 12 midway through the half, but the Aggies pulled away with a 12-0 run.
