The Pistons held the Denver Nuggets to 35-percent shooting, some of it simply attributable to open misses more than defensive brilliance, though that still should create something better than a 10-point loss.

“We don’t block people out,” Van Gundy said. “We just turn and go to the board and people come running in. We’ve got bad habits that we’re trying to break and we didn’t do a good job tonight.”

(Andre) Drummond disagreed with Van Gundy’s assertion about bad habits, however.

“I don’t think it’s old habits,” he said. “I think that we’re thinking too much because I feel like we want to do everything right. Stan is doing a good job. We know what we’re doing.”
