The Virginia Cavaliers suspended sophomore guard London Perrantes and junior forward Evan Nolte for two preseason games and the team’s season opener against James Madison for a violation of team rules, the university announced Friday.

Perrantes won the starting point guard job last season as a true freshman. He helped Virginia to a 30-7 record and ACC regular- season title while averaging 5.5 points and 3.8 assists.

Nolte averaged 2.8 points per game last season, primarily off the bench, after averaging 5.7 points as a freshman.

Virginia is ranked No. 9 in the preseason Associated Press poll.
