(Paul) Pierce recalled telling the players, reminding them of the 120-89 shellacking they took from the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. “I didn’t tell everybody, but two or three guys were here and heard it and I thought we were really in tune at shoot-around.”
It was another example of the unquantifiable leadership Pierce has provided this season, his 17th in the NBA, and by Tuesday night he was satisfied with his teammates. The Wizards had avenged a loss to the San Antonio Spurs 10 days earlier with a 101-93 victory, which snapped a 17-game losing streak to the NBA’s model franchise.
