Minnesota Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin will be sidelined 6-8 weeks after surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured right wrist.

Through nine games this season Martin is averaging 20.4 points on 48.3 percent shooting from the floor and 48.1 percent from the three-point line

The surgery was performed at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Thomas Graham.

The injury occurred at the 6:48 mark of the first quarter during Minnesota’s 115-99 win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Martin managed to remain in the game and scored 37 points.

The Timberwolves are already missing point guard Ricky Rubio and center Nikola Pekovic because of injuries.
