Pat Riley: Hassan Whiteside is ‘Our No. 1 Priority’

“He’s (Hassan Whiteside) our No.1 priority, a game changer,” Riley said. “I don’t think he’s even reached his ceiling.”

The question becomes the Heat’s ceiling with their salary-cap space, with Whiteside eligible for a contract starting in the $22 million range for next season.

“I want to build a team that can win and he’s got to be part of that,” Riley said. “I really believe it’s important for him to be a part of that. Now, when you get to the other part of negotiations, then you find out how much he wants to win, too.”
