Smart Can’t Wait to Learn From – And Play Alongside – Rondo

When Marcus Smart was drafted by the Boston Celtics, it immediately raised questions about Rajon Rondo’s future with the organization. However, Smart doesn’t feel like he’s coming to Boston to replace the All-Star point guard. He wants to learn as much as he can from Rondo, and he believes he can play alongside the veteran floor general as well.

“Rondo is a wonderful point guard, a wonderful player,” Smart said. “He reminds me a little bit of me.  He plays defense.  He’s long, his wing span, and he has big hands.  Just being able to learn from a guy who’s been in the league and been in my seat and my situation, it’s an amazing feeling and a great opportunity.”

When asked if he can play shooting guard alongside Rondo, Smart didn’t hesitate.

“Definitely, no doubt,” Smart said. “I think me being so versatile in college helped me to be able to play the two or one or whatever position the Celtics want me to play at the next level.”
