Best NBA Betting Sites Reviewed
Because all sportsbooks are unique and have their own strengths and weaknesses, we’ve taken the liberty of listing out the key pros and cons of each of the NBA sportsbooks below to help you make the right selection for your specific needs.
1. BetOnline – Best Odds Available at this NBA Betting Site
Since the complete makeover of its interface, the BetOnline sportsbook has looked and felt much more user-friendly. The well-thought-of NBA betting site continues to offer top odds and, perhaps most importantly, is dishing out $1,000 in risk-free bets to newcomers to the site as part of the festivities.
Once on the site, users can expect to find deep NBA futures markets. Back the winner of the Conference or the NBA Finals, which player will win the MVP award or find NBA Coach of the Year betting odds long before the season gets underway.
Live betting is a further feature, enabling bettors to back their favorite teams while games are in play, and the prop markets roll deep at BetOnline: back the number of field goals, rebounds, assists, and three-pointers (plus, much more) scored by a player/team with ease. BetOnline also has markets open for the NCAA and WNBA, too. Plus, the odds are very competitive all around.
So far as offshore betting sites go, this is an NBA betting app that’s among the elite on the market
What we like:
- The new, updated site offers a far superior user experience
- Futures available for NBA, Olympics, and WNBA + deep markets
- NBA Finals MVP & NBA Draft odds up early + competitive odds
- $1,000 deposit bonus for new users
What we don’t:
- No live-streaming of NBA games
- Prop markets not as deep as competition
2. Bovada – NBA Betting Site with a Solid Bonus
An NBA sportsbook with plenty of optionality for bettors, Bovada contains deep markets featuring game lines for futures, game day, and NBA live betting. The prop market is also chocked full with plentiful interesting wagers.
The NBA betting site itself is user-friendly: there are many pages dedicated to betting on basketball, providing readers with tips, advice, previews, and the latest news. The sportsbook itself certainly looks the part too – it’s a stylish application; the NBA betting lines are laid out clearly. This is most certainly an NBA sportsbook that is easy to navigate – and fun to use.
What we like:
- Deep markets for NBA futures
- Welcome bonus for new users
- Stats and metrics are available at the click of a button
- Rewards patrons regularly with bonuses + referral bonus
What we don’t:
- No live streaming of the NBA in the US.
3. EveryGame – Easy-to-Use NBA Betting Site
After 21 years in the business, EveryGame is another famed NBA betting site. The sportsbook provides competitive odds, lines, and spreads for just about every basketball game imaginable.
NBA live betting is a particular focus of EveryGame. The NBA sportsbook section takes its in-play betting seriously and serves up an enviable platter of interesting prop bets to patrons, as well as red-hot in-play offers during the games, with extra hot in-play offers available during the NBA playoffs/finals.
What we like:
- Futures up for NBA finals
- Easy site to navigate; fewer options but more streamlined
- Good bonus offer
- NBA odds are very competitive
What we don’t:
- No live streaming of NBA
- No basketball odds for NCAAB
- Lack of optionality in prop market for game day bets
4. MyBookie – One of the Best NBA Betting Sites for Live, In-Play Wagers
In terms of an NBA betting site that fully delivers in terms of optionality, competitive odds, and a futures market with real depth, it’s hard not to mention MyBookie.
Their NBA sportsbook lists the markets early including lines for both regular and post-season games. They offer the main selection of NBA betting lines, including moneyline, spread, and total points. You can also find the prop market for NBA live betting as well as ahead of time, both options are crammed full of interesting wagers, particularly for the NBA Finals.
The NBA betting site is also dishing out a $1,000 welcome bonus to newcomers joining up at the site, not to mention reload bonuses and plenty of special promotions and enhanced odds offers for the biggest basketball games on the calendar.
What we like:
- Tons of options for NBA game day and futures
- Parlay betting feature
- $1,000 deposit bonus for new users
- Rewards patrons regularly with bonuses + referral bonus
What we don’t:
- No live streaming of NBA
- No basketball odds for WNBA or NCAA
5. BetNow – Deep NBA Markets and Excellent Customer Support
Relatively new to the gambling world BetNow has quickly grown a reputation as one of the top sites for betting on North American-based sports. This of course includes basketball and the NBA. They have a combination of top-quality customer service, deep markets, and some of the top NBA betting odds.
On BetNow’s sportsbook, you can find the most common types of bets including very competitive NBA betting lines for spread betting, over/under betting, and moneylines. Another area in which BetNow excels is its offering of live betting on the NBA. They have a ton of markets and bets are graded and credited in real-time.
For newcomers to betting on the NBA, BetNow offers guides and tips that can help you decide where you want to place your money. In addition, there is also current NBA news available which is useful for both less experienced and seasoned gamblers.
Nowadays welcome bonuses are offered by all top-quality online sportsbooks and BetNow is no different. Using the BetNow promo code new users can claim a 150% matched deposit worth up to $300. This is not as generous as other sites on our list, but returning customers are rewarded well here with a super loyalty program and large re-up bonuses.
What we like:
- Excellent 24/7 customer service
- Deep live betting markets
- Hints and tips on NBA betting
- Large re-up bonuses
- Quality loyalty program
What we don’t:
- Less generous welcome bonus
6. BetUS – King of Parlay NBA Sportsbooks
Having been around for 27 years and counting, Bet US is a tried and trusted NBA sportsbook. It’s easy to access and available in multiple states. Plus, both the site and its corresponding app tend to broadcast highly competitive basketball betting lines, too.
On top of all that, BetUS serves up player specials (futures) well in advance of the competition – as far as we are aware, none of the other NBA betting sites reviewed is currently broadcasting player futures for the 2022 season. But BetUS is, and we implore you to go take a look if that’s something that tickles your fancy.
One thing that really sets BetUS apart from other available sportsbooks is how much attention to detail goes into ensuring that its patrons have instant access to up-to-date stats and metrics. It’s possible to dig through all the latest player stats, team notes, injuries, etc. with just the click of a button. Because BetUS offers a vast prop market for NBA live betting scenarios, this is truly a great feature – it saves a lot of time.
What we like:
- Tons of options for NBA futures, including many wagers not seen elsewhere
- Parlay betting feature
- $2,500 Risk-Free bet
- Stats and metrics are available at the click of a button from sportsbook betting pages
- Rewards patrons regularly with bonuses + referral bonus
What we don’t:
- No live streaming of NBA
7. XBet – Best NBA Sportsbook for Enhanced Odds Promos
Another of our preferred sportsbook options when it comes to betting on NBA games is XBet. This site launched in 2013 and the company tagline reads, ‘The Last Betting Site You Will Ever Join!.” This is actually quite fitting since XBet truly does cater to serious sports bettors, boasting a simple-to-understand user interface, a host of excellent basketball betting promotions, and well-reviewed customer support.
Where the basketball is concerned, bettors will find that it’s simple to bet on moneyline, spreads, and total points markets at XBet for both NBA and NCAA basketball. It’s also possible to wager on these markets by the game, half, or even the quarter. So, in that sense, XBet serves up plenty of betting options per game.
The prop betting options aren’t as loaded as they are at some of the competition (BetOnline or Bovada, for instance), but XBet’s slick interface, the NBA live betting options, and the site’s propensity to offer regular odds boosts more than make up for it. Plus, the NBA futures betting market is stacked with a ton of options.
The XBet promo code offer found at the link entitles newcomers to a 100% welcome bonus that’s worth up to $500 and comes with a very generous 7x rollover requirement. Plus, there’s an NBA betting reload bonus that’s worth up to $250 which can be utilized when you make your second deposit.
What we like:
- Impressive NBA futures markets
- Reliable payouts
- Slick user interface
- Low rollover requirement on sign-up bonus
- Regular NBA Odds Boosts
What we don’t:
- Less lucrative selection of bonuses than some rivals

There are three main betting lines that you’ll encounter when wagering on the NBA: moneyline, spread, and total points betting.
Wagering on the moneyline is easy enough because it is simply betting on which team you think will win the game. If you see odds for the Toronto Raptors at +100 vs. New Orleans Pelicans at – 100, a $100 bet on the Raptors to win would profit you $100. If you opted instead to go for the favorites, the Pelicans at -100, you would have to bet $200 to win $100.
The American odds (+100/-100) will continue into your other bets. You may notice the Raptors on the spread at +5.5. (-100). Here you bet on the Raptors to LOSE but by less than 6 (5.5) points. If the Raptors win and you wagered $100 on it, you would win $50.
Or, you may see the Pelicans on the total points market at O219 (O=OVER/U=UNDER). If you wager on the Pelicans to go over the combined total points market of O219, and the game finishes Raptors 120 – 123 Pelicans the total scored would be 143, so you would win the bet. If you understand these three concepts, you are pretty much good to start betting on NBA sites.
NBA Betting Tips
Once you’ve selected your preferred NBA betting site and deposited your money and, perhaps, taken advantage of a nice bonus or risk-free bet to wager on the basketball action, it’s time to actually place that bet.
For those reading who have already gambled on basketball games countless times, and who understand the process and all the markets and lines exactly, quit procrastinating and get to it!
For the rest of our readership; those among you who don’t know much about betting on NBA games at all, or about gambling in general, please do read on – this section will be plenty of use to you as you bid to come up with your best NBA betting strategy.
NBA Betting Markets
There are three main market types for betting on NBA action. They are called the futures, game day (game lines/props), and live, in-play betting markets.
We’re going to look at each in a touch more depth to ensure you understand the lingo and don’t end up running around Vegas with your pants pulled down around your ankles, having been fleeced of all your hard-earned $.
The NBA Futures Market: Betting on NBA Futures
Given that you wouldn’t be here at all if you didn’t love basketball, and as you’re no doubt aware, the regular NBA season tends to run for around six months, from mid-October to mid-April. Soon after the regular season ends, the playoffs start with the champions being decided sometime in June.
Regardless of when the Championship winning team is named and the MVP is crowned (May/July), the futures markets will be up and running again about a month later.
The NBA futures betting market consists of both team & NBA player futures. With the 2021-2022 season ending in triumph for Seth Curry and the Golden State Warriors, and the new season right around the corner, there are plenty of interesting futures available right now.
NBA sportsbooks that run using Vegas odds, such as William Hill and BetMGM tend to be among the most prompt when it comes to broadcasting said odds.
NBA Team Futures Betting
The NBA betting odds on the futures market for the (team) Championship Winner can come out as early as three weeks after the curtain is drawn on the previous season. It felt like FanDuel, for example, broadcast its site’s odds for the 2021 winner before the Miami Heat vs. L.A. Lakers championship series had even been decided in 2020!
The team futures market for the NBA championship consists of each of the 30 teams and their respective outright odds of lifting the 2022-23 (or whatever year you happen to be reading this in) NBA championship trophy. Right now last year’s champions the Golden State Warriors along with the runners-up Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers with the claw himself Kawahi Leonard are amongst the favorites to triumph with odds of around +600.
Some sportsbooks – generally (though not always) the ones that have a direct betting partnership with the National Basketball Association (DraftKings, FanDuel, & BetMGM, for example) – will also allow early futures bets on the winners of the divisions and conferences, too… with shortened odds, of course.
Betting on the NBA Division, Conference & Finals Winners
There are 30 teams in the NBA and those teams are divided up into two conferences. The conferences are called the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. The Eastern Conference is split into three divisions called Atlantic, Central, and Southeast. The Western Conference is split into three divisions, too: The Northwest, Pacific, and Southwest.
So, with regards to betting on NBA futures, you might see odds broadcast on Bovada.com for, let’s say, the Milwaukee Bucks to win…
- The NBA Championship/Finals +800
- The Eastern Conference +350
- The Central Division -250
Some NBA sportsbooks do allow you, bettors, to wager on other team futures, too: you might come across a wager for the Highest highest-scoring team, or the Team with the Most Rebounds, etc. Have a shop around before the 2022-2023 season begins on October 18th to see what is on offer.

Then, there are futures markets open for the players, too. The most common market of all is the NBA finals MVP. Practically every NBA betting site will have broadcast NBA betting odds on the MVP months before the season gets underway.
The NBA players’ futures market is deep and varied: besides an outright bet on the MVP, fans can wager on the player to come up with the most points, the most rebounds, assists, and plenty more where those come from.
To reference one of our three best NBA betting sites from up the page, BetUS is a great option for futures betting because they list their outright markets well ahead of time:
- How many triple-doubles will Luka Doncic score in 2022-23?
- How many triple-doubles will LaMelo Ball score in 2022-23
- How many games will it take Nikola Jokic to reach 100 triple-doubles?

Game Day Betting: Betting on an NBA Game
If futures bets are those bets you make way in advance of the event taking place, think of game day betting on one of the major NBA betting lines or prop markets as a kind of mini-future, or a short-sighted future bet.
As with all betting, you are still predicting a future event – it’s just that when betting on a game, you’ll see the outcome of your bet in a much shorter period of time than with future or outright wagers.
NBA Betting Online Odds Release Dates & When to Bet?
The most common method of game day betting is to put some money down on one of the NBA game lines. We urge our readers almost never to rush to market on game lines. It’s usually better to wait until as close to the tip as possible. Will Ja Morant be fit? (For example) This is the kind of news you want to be cleared up before you bet on/against a Grizzlies win!
That said, there are times to rush in early, too: 1) sometimes those sportsbooks that broadcast NBA Vegas odds can jump the gun, or under/overvalue a certain team, or player. Pro bettors are on the lookout for this kind of over/under sight and charge in, putting down huge money on team X to win and player X to score 40 points. Smart NBA sportsbooks will later shorten the odds. And 2) if you have inside information on something that very few people know – off the top of my head, you learn that Giannis Antetokounmpo has been suffering from the flu all week but the Bucks have kept it out of the press (I made that up but you catch my drift, right?).
Other than that, don’t wager on the game lines for an NBA game until approximately 24 hours before the game begins – it’s just common sense.
Betting on NBA Game Lines
There are three game lines that every NBA betting site will feature odds for; these are the moneyline, point spread, and total points (Over/Under) markets.
There is some variation on each of these game lines depending on your chosen sportsbook and whether or not you are wagering during the regular season or the playoffs/finals. For example, you can bet on the moneyline for the Houston Rockets to win the game at +200, or you can wager on the Rockets’ opposition to win the game, but the Rockets to win the half (+150), etc. It’s all the same in practice, just variations thereof.
Game Day Prop Betting on the Best NBA Betting Sites
Prop market betting is also a key part of betting on a game. Usually, within 24 hours of the opening tip, NBA sportsbooks will introduce their respective prop options, i.e., the fun stuff: How many points will Trae Young score tonight? Will Luka Doncic go over/under 40 points? Will the Greek Freak hit a three-pointer? Etc.
Remember, betting on props, alongside betting on a game line is particularly fun when you parlay your bets: the odds are improved as the chances of two events happening cause said odds to drift, and this is something that pro bettors who have done their research seek to exploit come game day.
There are more detailed explanations of NBA betting lines, how they work, and how to bet on the NBA further on down the page, so do read on if you are unsure. Here though, we are just introducing the main types of markets.

Live Betting at NBA Sportsbooks
NBA betting sites also allow basketball fans to wager live, in-play whilst the game is in action on the TV or, if you’re lucky, on the app itself.
NBA live betting makes betting on basketball fun. Period. It’s fast-paced and provides tons of extra optionality, especially in the form of prop bets: ‘the next player/team to score/assist/steal/get angry’ etc. There are countless prop betting options available on the best NBA betting sites: Draftkings, Bovida, etc.
We’ve listed a few examples below, but there are many more where these came from – it almost feels like it just depends on how creative the NBA sportsbook feels on the morning of the game, to be honest.
Player Prop Bets
- The first player to score a field goal
- Next player to score a 3 pointer
- Which player will score the first 3-pointer?
- Over/Under on player points in the game/half/quarter: Giannis Antetokounmpo +/- 30pts, for example
- Number of rebounds (over/under)
- Number of assists (over/under)
- How many times will Trae Young steal the ball
…and many more.
Team Prop Bets
- Which team scores first
- Which team scores last
- Over/under on team points per half/quarter
- Winning margin
- Winning margin per half/quarter (over/under)
- Will player X score a 3-pointer (Yes/No)
- Will there be overtime?
- Home team total points in the game/half/quarter
- Away team total points
Again, there is much more prop betting optionality on game day where that came from – just check back on the morning of and enjoy yourself.

NBA sport betting is a much simpler (not to mention more enjoyable) practice when you know what you’re doing. Most of us have learned through trial and error – in 2013, your writer was fortunate to break even when he personally spent a fortnight betting on favorites by accident because he didn’t understand the moneyline, for example.
If you’re going to make any money betting on NBA games, it’s imperative you understand the three major game lines we introduced earlier: MoneyLine, Points Spread, and Total Points.
Practically every other bet, bar simple yes/no bets, are variations of these three game lines. It might be that it’s a quarter not a game on the moneyline, or it might be that it’s player points and not team points on the over/under, or two players may be duking it out on the spread. But the same rules apply. So please do read on if you’re unclear and we’ll explain in full.
NBA Moneyline Betting
All a bettor has to do to wager on the moneyline is to check the basketball odds given on that day at any NBA sport betting site, make a prediction as to which team he/she fancies to win the game (or half/quarter), or at least which team appears to be better value for a win – remember not to just bet on favorites all the time; eventually, you’ll get stung!
Let’s use a fictional example to explain the exact process:
Chicago Bulls +200 Boston Celtics -100 As you can see in the table above, it’s the Bulls vs. the Celtics in Week-9, and BetUS has given us some fairly tight odds.
The favorite to win the match is the Boston Celtics who have been given odds of -100. What this means is that the bettor must wager $100 to win $50.
The Bulls are the favorites at +200. What this means is that the same bettor would need to wager $100 to win $200.
You could get your calculator out to work out the trickier -334s and +221s. But there really isn’t much point since the best NBA betting sites will all do the groundwork for you. As a consequence, moneyline betting is very easy indeed in the modern age.
NBA Points Spread Betting
The best NBA betting sites will also feature the points spread as one of their respective NBA betting lines.
Oddsmakers figure out which NBA team is the favorite or underdog for the game. And then, to keep things competitive when the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks meet say the modern Detroit Pistons, the spread (+/-) is set, along with the odds (+100/-100).
Let’s look at a visual example to simplify things:
Detroit Pistons +4.5 (+100) Milwaukee Bucks -4.5 (-100) In this fictional example, you can see the Pistons are the underdogs right away by following the aforementioned moneyline odds (+100). The Bucks are the favorites at -100.
As underdogs, the Pistons have been set the challenge of losing to the Bucks by less than (+)4.5 points. If Jerami Grant and co. can keep things competitive and lose but just by 116-113 (or whatever), or if the Pistons pull off a shock upset and win the game, you win too. And at odds of +100.
The same is true in reverse for the Bucks. Oddsmakers have tasked them with winning by more than 4.5 points. So if you wager on the Bucks at -4.5 to win on the NBA spread, and then Jrue Holiday and the boys turn up and turn out on the big night, winning 125-110 (or whatever; just by more than 4.5 points), you win with odds of -100.

The third and final common market found when NBA betting online is the total points market, and, again, it’s pretty easy to figure out.
All you’re doing here is visiting one of the best NBA sportsbooks and wagering on whether the total number of points scored by both teams will be over/ under a predetermined total set in advance by oddsmakers.
A real-life example to finish things off:
Game 4: Eastern Conference Finals – Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks – June 29, 2021 (Odds Courtesy of the BetUS NBA sports betting app)
Milwaukee Bucks O221 (-110) Atlanta Hawks U221 (-110) Looking at the table above, you can see the Total Points and odds for game 4 of the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.
With Trae Young and Giannis Antetokounmpo out on the court, it seems oddsmakers believe it will be a high-scoring night. But the fact they’ve set the Bucks at O221 (Over) means they are slight favorites to win the game in Atlanta.
Betting on the Bucks at O221 means that if the combined score posted by both teams is above that number, let’s say Hawks 120-134 Bucks (total: 254), you win. If it’s a tighter contest than expected and the final score is Bucks 100-102 Hawks, you lose, of course.
The exact same is true on the Under market for the Hawks, only this time you would be betting on the total score to under (U) 221.
These over/under bets appear regularly in the prop betting market, too. As mentioned, NBA betting online is nothing if not extremely varied and full of optionality.
You’ll be able to wager on over/under Jrue Holiday assists O5.5/U5.5, for example. Plus, just about everything you can think of where players like Young and Giannis are concerned!
Finally, never bet more than you can afford, and have fun out there!

What does +1.5 mean in basketball betting?
A (+) sign in front of the handicap means that a team is an underdog. When a +1.5 is in front of a team, it means they are only slight underdogs and are expected to lose by only 1 point. So if the Rockets are playing the Celtics, and the Rockets are listed as +1.5 to win this point spread bet, the Rockets would either need to win the game or lose by just one point.
How do NBA bets work?
NBA bets tend to involve betting on the moneyline, spread, or total points odds. Moneyline bets involve backing the match winner, spread betting is predicting how much one of the teams will win by, and total points betting is wagering on the total final score.
How does NBA spread work?
Spreads are designed to keep things interesting between a perceived favorite and an underdog. If you wager on the Orlando Magic on the spread at +5.5. (-100), it means you’ve challenged Orlando to LOSE but by less than 6 (5.5) points. If Orlando went on to lose the game Magic 120-118 Bulls (a 2-point deficit), your bet wins – a $100 wager here would win you $50
Is it legal to bet on NBA games?
Yes, it’s legal to bet on NBA games in many states across America – New Jersey, Nevada, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, to name but a few. Several states have pending legislation to legalize online sportsbook betting, too. That said, to avoid falling foul of the law, it’s always worth checking the licensing regulations in your state of residence before casting a bet.
What does +175 mean in betting?
+175 is favorable odds on the underdog found on the moneyline. If you wager $100 on the Chicago Bulls to beat the L.A. Lakers on the +175 moneyline, and your prediction proves correct, you will profit $175.
