LIU Brooklyn senior forward Landon Atterberry scored seven of his 16 points in overtime, and freshman guard Martin Hermannsson made the go-ahead basket with six seconds remaining in the Blackbirds’ 73-72 win over New Hampshire on Monday night in Durham, N.H.

After Hermannsson’s driving layup, New Hampshire had two chances to retake the lead but attempts by sophomore forward Jacoby Armstrong and freshman forward Tanner Leissner were off the mark in the nonconference game.

Hermannsson finished with 15 points. LIU Brooklyn got a game-high 19 points from Elvar Fridriksson, 16 of them in the first half, and Atterberry added 16 points.

Armstrong led New Hampshire with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

New Hamphire (6-5) fell to 4-1 at home this season. The Wildcats rallied back from a 15-point deficit in the first half and failed to hold on to a five-point lead with less than four minutes remaining in regulation.

LIU Brooklyn (4-6) went more than five minutes without a field goal late in regulation before sophomore guard Iverson Fleming and Fridriksson made consecutive 3-pointers to put the Blackbirds up 64-63 with 2:26 left.

New Hampshire guard Joe Bramanti made one of two free throws with 16 seconds remaining in regulation left to tie the game. Fridriksson then missed a 3-point attempt with three seconds left, and the game went into overtime.

After Atterberry made a layup with 37 seconds left in OT to put LIU Brooklyn ahead 71-70, Armstrong followed a miss by guard Jaleen Smith with 27 seconds remaining to put New Hampshire on top.

Hermannsson made his winning driving layup on the next possession.
