Colgate’s hot shooting, particularly from 3-point range, was too much for struggling Loyola-Maryland in the Raiders’ 84-60 victory on Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y.

Colgate (10-17), which snapped a three-game losing streak, made 60.4 percent (32-of-53) of its shots from the field, including 66.7 percent (12-of- 18) from beyond the 3-point arc.

Starting junior center Ethan Jacobs, who is 6-11 and 235 pounds, made 4-of-5 shots from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 20 points.

Another post player, 6-7, 230-pound senior Murphy Burnatowski, made 2-of-3 three-pointers and scored 15 points.

Sophomore guard Austin Tillotson made all three of his 3-point shots and finished with 17 points. He also had seven assists and only three turnovers.

Loyola (10-17) continued to reel, losing its fifth straight game without Dylon Cormier, who is the Patriot League’s leading scorer at 21.2 point per game.

Cormier broke his left hand Feb. 1 in a game against Army. He had surgery Feb. 5 and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Greyhounds were 4-5 in the Patriot League, including a 67-60 win at home against Colgate (10-17) on Jan. 25, before Cormier’s injury. They are 5-11 in conference play, only a game ahead of the Raiders (4-12) for last place.

After taking a 25-24 lead with 6:16 left in the first half, Loyola could not recover from Colgate’s 19-6 run to end the first half. The Greyhounds were 2-of-8 from the field, with three turnovers in that stretch.

Loyola did not make a field goal to start the second half until a jumper by senior forward Jordan Latham with 16:12 remaining. By that time, Colgate had a 51-33 lead.

Junior guard R.J. Williams led the Greyhounds with 16 points, but he and sophomore guard Jared Jones, who had 10, were the only scorers in double figures.

Colgate took advantage of Loyola’s lax 3-point shooting defense. The Greyhounds rank 10th in the Patriot League, allowing a shooting percentage of 39 from beyond the arc.

In the game-turning run to end the first half, Burnatowski made two 3-pointers and Jacobs contributed another.
