Junior guard Cezar Guerrero had 14 points and eight rebounds, leading Fresno State to an 81-63 victory over San Jose State on Wednesday evening at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif.

Guerrero led five players who scored in double figures for Fresno State (11-12, 6-4 Mountain West Conference). Sophomore forward Karachi Edo scored 12 points, junior guards Julien Lewis and Marvelle Harris had 11 points apiece, and sophomore guard Paul Watson added 10.

Sophomore guard Rashad Muhammad scored 16 points to lead San Jose State (2-20, 0-10), which has lost 12 in a row. Sophomore guard Isaac Thornton scored 14.

Fresno State jumped out to a 13-4 lead and extended its lead to 20-9 on a 3-pointer by Guerrero with 12:26 to play in the opening period. The Bulldogs led by 13 before San Jose State rallied to cut the deficit to five on a layup by sophomore forward Brandon Mitchell with 54 seconds to go.

The Bulldogs led 37-31 at the half. The Spartans cut the deficit to two on a three-point play by Thornton with 16:52 to play, but the Bulldogs took control with a 15-4 run over the next 5:05 and led by as many as 22 in the final minutes.
