Houston Rockets head into the 2019/20 NBA season eager to knock Golden State Warriors off their pedestal in the Western Conference.

The Rockets reached the Conference Semi-Finals last term, but their run ended as they were defeated in six games by the Warriors.

However, there was never more than six points between the two sides, highlighting how closely matched Houston are with their rivals.

When it comes to betting on the NBA the Rockets are amongst the favorites to end their 25-year championship drought, so read on as we assess their chances of success this season.

Harden remains a key player

James Harden has undoubtedly been the star of the show for Houston over the past few years and he remains a hugely influential player.

Chris Paul’s struggles with injury have left Harden picking up much of the attacking threat and he has taken on the responsibility with vigor.

Harden’s performances dragged the Rockets to the second round of the playoffs last season, and he will once again be a key player in 2019/20.

Westbrook can rocket Houston to the title

The Rockets have made a huge move this summer, trading Paul to Oklahoma City Thunder for Russell Westbrook.

The 30-year-old adds a different dimension to Houston’s offense, and he will help to take some of the weight off Harden’s shoulders.

With Tyson Chandler, Anthony Bennett and Ben McLemore also arriving in Houston, their roster looks stronger than last year’s.

Rockets ready to shine

With two stellar talents in Harden and Westbrook, there is no reason why the Rockets can’t end their long wait for an NBA title.

The team won 53 out of 82 games during the regular season in 2018/19 and should improve on that this time around.

With Golden State fielding a new-look team this season, the door is open for the Rockets to make it all the way to the NBA Finals.
