Wizards Aggressively Pursuing Ray Allen

Just about every playoff team in the NBA has contacted Ray Allen’s camp to see if he’d be interested in signing with them, but the most persistent squad has been the Washington Wizards.

League sources say that the Wizards have been checking in constantly to see what Allen is thinking or if he’s any closer to a decision. They have been pitching their situation and making it clear that they’d love to sign Allen and reunite him with his former Boston Celtics teammate Paul Pierce.

Washington wants to take a huge step forward this year and contend for a championship. They feel that Allen would really help them do that. Pierce has already helped the young Wizards with his leadership and experience, and adding Allen would give the team another champion to listen to in the locker room.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors and many other teams have also been linked to Allen.

With all of that said, it remains to be seen if Allen will even play this year. He has been working out in Miami, but that doesn’t mean he’s making a comeback. Allen is a fitness freak who will be working out every day for the rest of his life – NBA career or not. He isn’t sure if he wants to play this season and is enjoying time with his family. Some people around the league have assumed he’s just waiting for the right time to sign and will definitely play, but sources close to Allen insist that he really hasn’t made a decision one way or the other.

Wolters Gets Another 10-Day Deal

Jared Karnes is the agent who represents Nate Wolters, and he tweeted this on Thursday evening.

It’s no surprise that the New Orleans Pelicans will give Nate Wolters a second 10-day deal, because they desperately need quality reserve players to strengthen their second unit and Wolters have been serviceable thus far.

He has appeared in four games, but really only played significant minutes in one. In 22 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers, he had six points, six assists and two steals in the win.

Once this second 10-day contract expires, the Pelicans will have to either sign Wolters for the remainder of the season or waive him.

Suns Assign Ennis, Warren to D-League

The Phoenix Suns have assigned rookies guard Tyler Ennis and forward T.J. Warren to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

via Suns press release

Tyler Ennis and T.J. Warren were first-round picks for the Phoenix Suns, but they haven’t played much this season since the Suns are a playoff team and determined to win now with their more experienced players.

For both Ennis and Warren, this is their third assignment to Bakersfield this season.

Ennis is averaging 18.2 points on 46.8 percent shooting, 5.0 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 33.6 minutes in five games with the Jam.

Warren is averaging 23.6 points on 53.5 percent shooting, 6.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 33.6 minutes in five games.
