NBA Draft
Phoenix Suns Select Bogdan Bogdanovic at No. 27
With the 27th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft the Phoenix Suns selected Bogdan Bogdanovic, a combo guard from Serbia.
With the 27th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft the Phoenix Suns selected Bogdan Bogdanovic. At 6-foot-6, and 205 lbs, with a 6’11 wingspsan, Bognadovic has a good frame for a shooting guard, and has potential on the defensive side of the court (1.7 steals per 40 minutes). His long frame allows him to cover opposing players on the perimiter and at the rim, though he sometimes loses focus.
On the offesnive side of the ball, Bognadovic has good shooting mechanics, and can shoot well beyond the NBA three-point line. He is especially good hitting pull-up jumpers after using a screen from a teammate to generate a little bit of space (a particularly hard shot to cover because of his quick release).
At just 21, Bogdanovic ranked well in different statistical categories in the regional Adriatic league and Euroleague. In the Adriatic league he was fifth in points, and ninth in assists. In the Euroleague, he was 13th in points, and 24th in assists.
Phoenix looks to be accumulating assets at this point (perhaps to swing a big deal for a player like Kevin Love), and may wait to bring Bognadovic to the NBA for a season, or longer. Something to note from the Suns three picks is they did not take any bigs, opting for a small forward, point guard and shooting guard.
