The Toronto Raptors have discussed a trade that would send point guard Cory Joseph to the Indiana Pacers, league sources told Basketball Insiders.

The Pacers are searching for a young point guard with playoff experience that can be a part of the team’s rebuilding process after losing point guard Jeff Teague in free agency.

Teague agreed to a 3-year, $55 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the start of free agency.

The Raptors are looking to save cap space while trying to retain unrestricted free agents Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka.

Joseph will earn $7.6 million this upcoming season and has a $7.9 million player option for the 2018-19 season.

The Raptors are targeting draft pick compensation in return for Joseph. Both sides are continuing discussions on that compensation at this time.

Joseph would have an opportunity to become Indiana’s starting point guard. Joseph started 22 games last season and averaged 12.2 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field in 32.2 minutes per game.
