Guard Four McGlynn scored 13 points as Towson earned its first victory of the season with a 51-46 road victory over Morgan State Monday night.

McGlynn, the only member of the Tigers (1-1) to score in double figures, made all eight of his free throws in the offensively challenged game, including four in the final 18 seconds for the game’s final points.

Guard Donte Pretlow 13 and forward Cedric Blossom had 11 for the Bears (0-2).

Towson forward Walter Foster scored eight points. Guard A.J. Astroh made both of his attempts from beyond the arc and scored six points.

Morgan State trailed 25-22 at halftime, but led 39-35 midway through the second half. Astroh’s second 3-pointer gave Towson the lead for good with 7:43 left at 42-39.

Both teams shot less than 40 percent from the field and combined to miss 25 of 30 3-point attempts.

The Bears lead the all-time series 12-11, but the Tigers have won the last two meetings.

Both Baltimore area teams lost their season openers to power conference programs. Morgan State fell 61-48 at Penn State while Towson lost 82-54 at Alabama.

Projected to finish third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Morgan State shot 33 percent from the field in the second half, including 1 of 11 on 3-point attempts.

Morgan State plays at Northern Iowa on Thursday as part of the Cancun Challenge. Towson hosts Central Connecticut State on Friday.
