Point guard Grant Riller has been signed by the Philadelphia 76ers to a two-way contract, according to an announcement made today by Daryl Morey, the team’s president of basketball operations. On November 30, 2020, the guard signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. In the 2020-21 season, Riller spent time playing for both Charlotte and the Greensboro Swarm, the organization’s G League affiliate. Greensboro finished 5-10 (.333) in their 2020-21 season.
The 24-year-old averaged 2.6 points in seven games played with the Hornets last season. In 11 games played with the Swarm, Riller averaged 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. While averaging 25.7 minutes played, he shot 49 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from behind the arc. His 46.2 three-point shooting percentage ranked second in the G League.

Cougars statistics and NBA G League rule
On February 26, 2021, in the team’s 126-117 loss versus the Raptors 905, he finished his performance with a season-high 28 points, on top of four assists and three steals. During his college years at the College of Charleston, the guard was selected first-team All-CAA from 2018 through 2020. He was also awarded the CAA Tournament MVP in 2018. In his 2018-19 and 2019-20 college seasons, Riller averaged 21.9 points per game for the Cougars.
In a 99-95 loss against the Hofstra Pride, he scored a career-high 43 points, complimenting his four rebounds and six assists. Additionally, in the second round, Riller was selected 56th overall by the Hornets in the 2020 NBA Draft. According to the league’s rules, all 30 NBA teams are allowed a maximum of two players assigned under two-way contracts. Plus, if a player decides to play for the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers’ G League affiliate, he cannot be active for more than 50 NBA games.
