The Denver Nuggets and Josh Childress have agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal, a league source told Basketball Insiders.

Childress, who is now represented by agent Daniel Hazan, will become the first player to sign with an NBA team after playing in the BIG3.

Childress played for the Ball Hogs in the BIG3 this summer as a co-captain and last played in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013.

The Denver Nuggets currently have 17 players on the roster, including restricted free agent Mason Plumlee. Childress will enter training camp as the 18th player on the roster and will compete against a crowded small forward rotation of Will Barton, Wilson Chandler, and Tyler Lydon.

The 34-year-old swingman was the former sixth overall pick of the 2004 draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Childress averaged 11.1 points per game on 52 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from downtown in four seasons for the Hawks.

After spending four seasons in Atlanta, Childress signed a three-year, $20 million deal with Olympiacos in Greece.

Childress spent two seasons with Olympiacos before returning to the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, who acquired his rights from the Hawks in exchange for a 2012 second-round pick. Childress then signed a five-year, $33 million deal with the Suns.

Afterwards, Childress spent brief stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Pelicans before playing for the Sydney Kings of the NBL. Childress spent last season with San-en NeoPhoenix in Japan.
