Sources: Deron Williams Plans to Opt Out of Contract

Deron Williams intends to opt out of the second season of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, sources told ESPN.com.

Williams, who could have made $5.6 million next season, plans to seek a multi-year deal that could be the final contract of his career, the sources said. There will be mutual interest in his return to Dallas after he averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists this season.

Sources: Luc Mbah a Moute Out Two-to-Three Weeks

After an MRI on his injured right shoulder revealed no significant damage, Houston Rockets forward Luc Mbah a Moute is expected to miss two to three weeks, league sources told ESPN.

Mbah a Moute suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Rockets’ 108-96 victory over Charlotte on Wednesday night, landing off balance after a dunk attempt. He underwent the MRI on Thursday in Houston.

Mbah a Moute, 31, has been a key part of the Rockets’ defensive dominance this season. He has averaged 6.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 25 minutes a game this season for Houston. He signed a free agent deal with Houston in July, leaving the LA Clippers.

The Rockets have won 11 consecutive games, giving them an NBA-best 22-4 record.

Rivers left the game after taking an elbow to the head in the final seconds of the second quarter. He did not return.
