In the weeks between now and the 2016 NBA Draft, Basketball Insiders will have a number of draft prospects writing about their experiences to give our readers a behind-the-scenes look at the pre-draft process. These players will keep you updated on their training regimen, NBA team workouts and much more.

Our first diary entry comes from Jarrod Uthoff, a 6’9 forward from the University of Iowa. Uthoff is coming off of an excellent season in which he was named second-team All-American and first-team All-Big-Ten.

The 22-year-old led the Hawkeyes in scoring with 18.9 points per game, shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from three-point range and 81.3 percent from the free throw line. He also led Iowa in blocks with 2.6 per game, in addition to averaging 6.3 rebounds and one steal.

Without further ado, meet Jarrod:

My name is Jarrod Uthoff and I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in economics. Since leaving school and entering the 2016 NBA Draft, I have been training in Las Vegas at Impact Basketball. I have been working out at Impact for three weeks now and I am very happy with the progress that I have made.

Since arriving in Las Vegas, I have already gotten much stronger and I continue to get more comfortable shooting from the NBA’s three-point line. The coaches, as well as the players that are training here, create a great training environment at Impact. The coaches on the court are very positive and offer constructive advice. My strength coach is very intelligent and knows a ton about strength and conditioning. He also speaks several languages and has agreed to teach me some Russian words, which intrigues me.

The next step for me in this process is attending the NBA Combine in Chicago, which is in about two weeks. I am going to continue to train and get ready for the Combine because I want to be as prepared as I can be when I showcase my skill set in front of NBA decision-makers. There will be a lot of great competition and I am anxious to show the NBA that I can thrive at the next level. Since some people may not have seen me before, I am also looking forward to showing my athleticism and my skills on the court.

I will be checking in here at basketballinsiders.com every couple of weeks to share my experiences throughout this pre-draft process, so I hope you come back and follow along as I go through this journey.

Sincerely,

Jarrod
