The Rockets were not going to revel in finishing third, the place in the standings they clinched with their 110-104 win against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, and not just because they have grander goals in mind.
They had seemed certain to be the Western Conference’s third seed for so long, taking it from probably to assured did not move the needle into celebration territory.
