Rockets Aiming for Physicality, Defense

The new bigs include Tarik Black (6-11, 250), Jeff Adrian (6-7, 245) and Clint Capela (6-10, 245). The Rockets also added forward Trevor Ariza to play at the three and bring a defensive mindset.

The mixture of those players with Pat Beverley and Dwight Howard, both known for their defense, gives the Rockets a new look.

The change is noticeable. Guard Troy Daniels said that after Saturday night’s practice, he and his teammates talked in the locker room about how tough scrimmages have been.

“We are the most physical since I’ve been here, and that’s great,” he said. “We have to be ready, especially (in) the playoffs, which have a physical nature.”
