Larry Bird Mum on Bynum’s Long-Term Future
(Andrew) Bynum, who USA Today reported has agreed to a $1 million deal for the rest of the season, will return to Indianapolis early next week but will not be ready to play for several weeks. He was not made available for comment Saturday by the Pacers or his agent.
“I ain’t worrying about next year and I haven’t all year,” Bird said, when asked responding to a question about whether the Bynum addition was for the long term. “We’re in the now and we’re going to do whatever we can to go as far as we possibly can. We know there’s going to be some tough competition but if we get a chance to improve our team, we’re going to try to do that.”
