Gortat Bracing for Bigger Role with Nene Out
The Wizards will be without Nene on Sunday for a critical game they’ll need to win to maintain home-court advantage in this series. But they are more confident about their chances after going 13-9 in games Nene missed after he sprained his left knee on Feb. 23.
“It’s going to be a huge loss for us,” said (Marcin) Gortat, who is averaging 11.7 points and 9.7 rebounds in the series and recorded two double-doubles. “Inside offense is going to go through me. There is an opportunity for me to play a bigger role. I just got to perform. I got to be on top of my game.”
