Ewing Would Welcome Call from Knicks
Phil Jackson might have to be turned down by Derek Fisher and every other player he’s coached before it gets to this point, but if the Knicks’ president calls, Patrick Ewing will be here in a New York minute.
“I’d love to go back to New York,” Ewing said Sunday on CBS Sports Radio. “I’m not sure what is going to happen in terms of who they’re going to have fill that void, but if I get a call, I’m ready.”
The 51-year-old has openly expressed his frustration about not getting a head coaching job — while the likes of Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd and Steve Kerr have stepped right in despite zero bench experience in recent years — and it’s something he attributes to a big-man bias, a point he made again on Sunday.
