Colgate cooled off the hottest team in the Patriot League with an 83-66 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday night at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y.

The Raiders (11-17, 5-12 Patriot) earned their second consecutive win, while the Leopards (10-18, 6-11) saw their four-game winning streak end.

Colgate was led by senior forward Murphy Burnatowski, who finished with a game-high 25 points. Junior center Ethan Jacobs chipped in 18 points for the Raiders, and senior guard Chad Johnson scored 13.

Lafayette, which won six of its previous seven games, got a team-high 24 points from freshman guard Nick Linder. Junior forward Dan Trist added 19 points.

Lafayette led once, 2-0. After that, it was all Colgate, which led by as many as 17 points.

Entering the game, Lafayette was third in the country in 3-point shooting percentage at .410. However, the Leopards never got on track from beyond the arc, making just four of 21 attempts, (19 percent).

Colgate shot very well, making 30 of 49 shots from the floor overall (61.2 percent). Lafayette hit 27 of 58 (46.6 percent).

Burnatowski and Jacobs combined to make 15 of 22 shots from the field. Linder hit 11 of 15 shots.

Both teams conclude the regular season Saturday. Lafayette plays at Army, while Colgate travels to Lehigh.
