The Sacramento Kings could be missing two keys players for a few games.
Center DeMarcus Cousins and forward Rudy Gay were listed as day to day by the team on Thursday after both suffered injuries in the first half of Wednesday night’s 119-98 loss to the Houston Rockets.
Cousins was examined Thursday in Sacramento by Dr. Jason Zemanovic and diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. Gay underwent an MRI that determined he has a strained left Achilles tendon.
Cousins leads the team in scoring at 22.6 points per game and rebounding (11.6) and is averaging 3.0 assists, 1.78 steals and 1.20 blocks in 40 games.
Gay is averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.14 steals in 21 games with the Kings after he was acquired from the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 9. He scored 41 points in a 114-97 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.
Both players were wearing walking boots on Thursday and may not be available for games on Friday night against the Indiana Pacers and Sunday against the Denver Nuggets.
