Grayson Allen Has No Regrets in Returning to Duke

According to multiple NBA executives, (Grayson) Allen likely would have been a first-round pick a year ago after a sophomore season in which he averaged 21.6 points and shot 42 percent from 3-point range. Now, most of those same executives tell ESPN that the junior guard projects as a mid-second-round pick — if he opts to leave after this season.

“I knew with the decision I made, once I made it, I was going to live with it,” Allen said Thursday prior to the team’s first-round NCAA tournament game.

“For me, I’m making best of the situation. I didn’t come back for personal goals, I came back to be in the spot I am right now and trying to make another run for a national championship, and I’m still able to do that. So there’s no regrets there.”

The NBA and National Basketball Players Association’s conversations on eliminating the one-and-done entry rule have centered on lowering the minimum age requirement no sooner than the 2020 draft, league sources told ESPN.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver and NBPA executive director Michele Roberts have discussed scenarios to end the requirement for American players to wait one year after high school graduation to enter the NBA draft, but no formal agreement could be reached before the NBPA’s executive committee, including president Chris Paul, gather for a meeting at the end of the NBA playoffs in June.

Silver and Roberts have both expressed a desire to change the rule, but it remains to be seen how the process of negotiating a rule change between the league and players will unfold.

I can’t believe the time has come for me to say this but I would like to announce that I will be declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft. First off I want to thank Jesus for putting me here and allowing me to show my gifts that he has given me. I want to thank my family and everyone who has been in my corner since day one, the support has meant a lot to me. I also want to thank those who doubted me and continue to doubt me, it only pushes me to get better every single day. I learned a lot this year on and off of the court and I’m thankful for the opportunity. Thank you Duke!!! 🔵⚪#JREAM
